Invitation Letter
We are very pleased to invite you to participate in the V International Legume Conference to be held in Buenos Aires, between August 8th and 14th, 2010.
The last Conference, the IV International Conference, was held in Canberra, Australia, 2000 and after 10 years, we are able to congregate researchers from different science areas of the Legumes. The meeting will enable the exchange of the update information between specialists from different continents in different scientific and productive items.
On this basis, the topics for the event will be: Phylogeny and Reclassification of Legumes, Phytogeography, Development and Structure, Anatomy, Reproductive Biology, Pollination, Genetics, Phytochemistry, Palynology, Paleobotany, Plant-Animal-Microorganisms Interrelationships, Functional Evolution in Root Nodules, Species-Populations-Hybrids-Polyploids, Seed and Seedling Biology, Evolution-Development (Evo-Devo): Legumes as a model, Molecular Ecology and Evolution, Plant-Soil Interrelation, Systematics-Taxonomy, Floras, Conservation and the advances reached in the cultivation of crops with actual and potencial agricultural importance of different generic-specific worldwide representatives: Economic Botany, Mating Systems, Breeding and Genetic Resources, etc.
In this way and due to his brillant career, national and international recognition in the study and understanding of the Argentine and South American Legumes, we propose to celebrate the Conference in Honor of the Memory of Prof. Ing. Arturo Burkart (1906-1975), former Director of the Instituto de Botánica Darwinion (IBODA): Academia Nacional de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales-CONICET (1936-1975).
